Crypt church makes me feel mystery and serious. I am curious about it. When I went into the basement of the church, I felt frozen and scared. It reminded me of "Mummy" in Egypt. As it is a dark place, I want to make a colourful mummy to give some colour to the space.

I used colourful tissue paper and chicken wires to make a human head (80x60x50cm).

The idea that fear can itself be the intentional object o f anxiety had been previously expressed by a diverse range of authors. In his essay entitled of Fear, Montaigne (1573/1948) said, “The thing I fear most is fear”. Roosevelt (1933/1965) famously proclaimed in his first Inaugural Address: “So first of all let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself— nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance”.

Conflict Exhibition 01/02/2018 - 08/02/2018

At a time when highly divisive issues dominate public discourse, artists from different backgrounds reflect on the notion of conflict within and between people.

At Feb 2018, we had a group exhibition at Chelsea college of arts. Due to the space condition, we had a meeting to discuss the size of each artwork 12x12 inches. 36 emerging artists divided to different teams in charge of different content. such as curating team, social media and digital team, etc. My responsibility is to welcome customers in private show. I learnt how to communicate with artists, gained the skills and experiences how to hold an exhibition. Working as large group for this show was difficult but valuable.

My work is called contradictory. The inspiration came from a 2016 American superhero film 'Suicide Squad' (Harley Quinn). Harley is a female character full of conflicting personas, she is a woman obsessed with life and freedom but doesn't know how to achieve her idea of a fulfilled life. Reflect to myself, I have the same feeling of her. In the film she pretend to be stupid and crazy, but in fact she is a genius. I wouldn't call Harley some kind of feminist icon, but she does have a sense of empowerment about her. The most obvious contradiction in appearance is her hair, divided into two parts, blue and pink. I used oil painting express my feeling of conflict.

Art Parlour is the section to emerging artists how to survive in reality. At first, we had a lecture by two artists Alastair Gordon, Rosalind Davis. They introduced and expressed what you cannot learn in art school. For example, where do you see yourself in 2 years? Before you leave art school...what you need to think about...? What can you get out of your degree show? Then we visited three artists's studio, they displayed their artworks and explained their experiences in art route.

Learnt from Art Parlour in space studios, we had a group presentation. what impressed me most is Keep going and Work hard. Building a career as an artist is not an overnight success sort of thing. Finding a market takes time, making sales takes time. Even something that sounds as simple as finding gallery representation takes time. In short, to me and to all the emerging artists, never, ever give up and work hard. Giving up is the quick, easy road, but that's because it doesn't lead anywhere. Persist long enough, however, and you will find some measure of success.
